There were many improvements since last year:

- new brushes in every techniques and a simple way to customize every tools and put your own stencils, images, movies, brushes, settings, …)
- layers, save and retrieve paintings, print, …
- a complete and dynamic control with a tablet (kind of painter’s palette)

New Mobile OS - Boot to Gecko by Telefonica, Mozilla and Qualcomm

The video shows a phone running the ‘open web device’ OS, which has been developed by Telefónica, in partnership with Mozilla and Qualcomm.

The Telefónica Boot To Gecko platform has been entirely encoded in HTML5, where everything is within that format, from applications to home screen - with just a Kernel, Boot to Gecko and no middleware or libraries of any sort.

The footage shows the mobile phone being used to make calls, send text messages, access Google maps, play high-quality video and even run HTML5 games, from the web.

Smartphones Retail

Here’s a great showcase how retail can benefit from a clever smartphone strategy. Tesco, large UK grocery store is number 2 in korea and was looking how to become number one.

Tesco first rebranded, then they created panels as exact copies of the shelves in the shops on (advertising?) -panels in public space. a qr-code below the products enable the bypassing shoppers to order the product straight away and get it delivered at home.

COOL - TOYOTA’S “SMARTPHONE CAR”, THE FUN-Vii

Toyota’s president Akio Totoda unveiled what he referred to as a “smartphone on four wheels”. The concept, known as the “Fun Vii”, is designed to work like a touchscreen phone or tablet device, allowing drivers to personalise their vehicle in real-time. Using the touch-sensitive external panels, drivers could change the colour of their car, or display content like images, text, or maybe even video

SOCIAL MEDIA - TURCELL’S WINNING TWITTER CAMPAIGN

The Turkish mobile operator Turkcell wanted to create awareness for the launch of their smartphone offerings among the heavy internet users.

They came up with the idea of a live competition on Twitter,  widely popular amongst heavy internet users in Turkey.

They made a gift box and put the smart phones in. The gift box was covered with post-its. Using a live video feed, they asked the twitter crowd to unpack the box by tweeting what was written on the post-its using their hashtag #turkcelltweet.

Once uncovered, the participants of the competition could win the uncovered smartphones. Easy, straight forward, clear benefit. In short: Fun and effective!

This video presents key findings from “The Mobile Movement: Understanding Smartphone Consumers,” a study from Google. The findings come from research conducted at the end of 2010 among 5,013 US adult smartphone Internet users. Google wanted to better understand how smartphones are used in consumers’ daily lives and how smartphones have influenced the ways consumers search, shop and respond to mobile advertising.
